Applying for bank jobs? Things u need to know

One of the biggest barriers, according to many, for a bank job is the Written test conducted by them. Most public sector banks follow a certain exam pattern for Clerk, Probationary Officer recruitment & knowing about the section of exam can help in planning & preparation. But there are more factors to be concerned beyond exam alone

--->> How to calculate you eligibility – Is 59.9% similar to 60% ?

The most common question that was posed to us through the post "Ask Question " was the confusion over eligbility criteria.I would like to clarify for all other jobs including Central government jobs,Jobs in public sector banks and private banks.

Incase of minimum eligibility being fixed at 60%,you must have either secured exactly or above 60%.If you have scored 59.8%,it wont be rounded off to the nearest whole number.Hence, you will not eligible for the job ,if the score is less than the prescribed percentage, even by .01% . Hope we have shed some light on this confusion

--->>Is Computer course certificate necessary to apply for bank jobs ?

Is computer course certificate necessary to apply for bank jobs? This has been the question asked by many new candidates applying for jobs in public sector banks.Recently, many large government banks have made computer certification compulsory to become eligible for the post of clerk & probationary officers.Read on to know what skills are needed & the reason behind this demand.

All banks in India are moving towards core-banking(computerization of branches) & all transactions are made only through computer systems. This is the main reason for the banks to recruit new candidates with computer knowledge. So,what are the main skills required & what specific computer certificate has to be produced ?

Q: From which institute/computer training center should I get certificate ?
A: You can get trained from any computer institute, but some banks expect certification only from government approved training center.

Q: What are the skills to be trained in?
A: Banks expect certificate in Computer Awareness and Office Automation Course, which comprises of Computer Basics, DOS, MS Office, Internet & E-Mail.

Q: I have studied computers in college level/I had computer paper in college.Should I still get computer certificate from a training center?
A: Not Necessary.Candidates with computer subject in their degree/college need not submit the certificate.

Q: How long should I get trained & what would be the cost of course?
A: Normally, Computer Awareness and Office Automation Course would cost around Rs.1000 - Rs.3000 depending upon the city & center.Since the course teaches basics of computers, the duration would be maximum for 3 weeks.

--->>Age Limit : What is the age limit fixed by banks for its positions?

The recent question was about the Age limit for bank jobs in India.

To join any bank in India and to make it for the written exam, one of the eligibility criteria posted by all banks is the Age Limit. All Public Sector banks and Private sector banks follow certain kind of criteria for the selection process and it differs.

The maximum age for the post of clerks would be 28 yrs,as per job applications of most banks.Similarly the average age of Officers/POs should not be more than 30 yrs.Incase of SC/ST candidates, the age limit would be relaxable up to 5 years & 3 yrs for OBC.These are the procedures followed by public sector banks. But,the deciding authority and the final decision rests with the banking exam co-coordinator or those whose frame the criteria for bank exams.

There is no specific rule followed for the average age limit for bank jobs in India,as of now. But,most banks stick to the above age limits during recruitment. If you have vast experience in the banking field (or) Exceptionally talented (or) Highly qualified (or) any special reasons which the bank may think to be fit, then the chances of making it to the top post at a younger age is possible.
